| Here are some tips to help make your vacation a success: |
» |
Change your watch as soon as you begin your journey if you are moving between time zones. This means you should get straight into the habit of eating and sleeping to the local time of your destination; it helps with jet lag! |
» |
Take a photocopy of your itinerary, passport, credit cards, travel insurance documents and important phone numbers and keep them separate from the originals, in case of loss or theft. |
» |
Recharge your mobile phone or laptop whilst you are waiting for connecting flights. There are often electrical outlets under windows in airports |
» |
If you roll your clothes when packing they wont move about so much in your case and will hardly need ironing. This is especially useful with the new cases that are pulled upright. |
» |
Consider the bundle method of packing layout outfits that go together e.g. jacket, trousers/skirt, shirt, underwear and wrap these around the shoes that you will wear with them. You now have a bundle that you can use at your convenience rather than frantically looking for matching items. |
» |
Shoes are one of the most difficult things to pack; they are bulky and weighty, so try wearing your heaviest pair during the journey, more room for all that shopping! |
» |
Be prepared for delays; bring an inflatable pillow/eye mask, a book or magazine, music, deck of cards and a SENSE OF HUMOUR |
» |
For longer stays in a country, or where the security situation is volatile, register your details at the local Australian embassy, high commission or consulate, or online. This will help us help you in an emergency. |
» |
Make an appointment with your doctor or travel clinic to have a basic check-up and find out if any vaccinations or health checks are required at least 6-12 weeks before you depart. |
